The 2016 UK composites strategy aims to ensure that the UK maintains its position as one of the world's leading palces for the research and commercial exploitation of composites materials and processes.
The 2016 strategy defines three key aims for industry and government to secure UK market share:
- DELIVER and accelerate organic growth in already established sectors using composites
- DEVELOP developments in technology and supply chains to capture mid- and high-volume opportunities
- DIVERSIFY and enable UK industry to make a paradigm shift, taking advantage of composites in emerging user sectors
Giving government support for this industry-led strategy, the Minister of State for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise comments “The UK has a vibrant and competitive composites industry which has a vital role to play in supporting the wider manufacturing sector in its transition to the use of advanced materials which could transform products and their performance. The strategy sets out a compelling case for action which will help build our competitive advantage in global manufacturing.”
